Atlanta Baroque Orchestra Presents 'Autumn in Hamburg: A Musical Feast'

The concert will feature Telemann’s Tafelmusik.

Under the direction of concertmaster Julie Andrijeski, the Atlanta Baroque Orchestra will come to Roswell to present music from Georg Philipp Telemann’s Tafelmusik Book II in concert this weekend.

A pre-concert lecture begins at 3:15 pm.

  • Overture and Suite in D Major for oboe, trumpet, strings and continuo
  • Quartet in D Minor for recorder or bassoon or cello, two flutes and continuo
  • Concerto in F Major for three violins, strings and continuo
  • Trio in E Minor for flute, oboe, cello and continuo

Tafelmusik (“table music”) means music to accompany a banquet. Telemann (1681-1767) one of the most beloved composers in the German Baroque, wrote several collections in this genre which demonstrate his compositional prowess, as the music alternates between thrilling ensemble music and virtuosic solo playing.

The concert will take place on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 4 p.m. at Roswell Presbyterian Church, 755 Mimosa Boulevard in Roswell. Tickets are $25 for regular admission on the day of the show, with discounts for advance purchase, seniors, students, and groups. Purchase tickets online.
