Chance of Snow, Wintry Mix Through Weekend for Roswell

Portions of north and central Georgia may see flurries, sleet or snow this weekend and freezing temps through Sunday night.

The first weekend of March promises cold and even some potential snow flurries or a wintry mix as temps drop for parts of north and central Georgia.

Overnight freezing temps are expected through Sunday night, and Friday night and Saturday hold slight chances of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a freeze warning that includes North Fulton. It's effective through 9 a.m. Friday.

"A fast-moving but potent upper low sweeping across the Tennessee Valley and southern Appalachians [on] Saturday will bring a chance for at least light wintry precipitation to north Georgia," according to NWS' Hazardous Weather Outlook. "Any accumulations are expected to remain light at this time. Generally a half inch or less mainly across far north Georgia with up to an inch at the highest elevations of the far northern mountains.

"In addition, very cold overnight low temperatures are expected to continue across the area through Sunday night with a hard freeze possible across north Georgia [on] Saturday night."

In Roswell, expect a 30 percent chance of rain/snow on Saturday before 11 a.m. NWS forecast.
