Wordes' Family, Friends Plan Memorial Service

Andrew Wordes, also know as Roswell's Chicken Man, will be buried Friday in Milton Fields, just north of Roswell.

The family and friends of Andrew Wordes have organized a Friday memorial service for Roswell's Chicken Man, according his good friend Patti Silva.

"The funeral has been set and all the arrangements have been made," Silva told Roswell Patch, after speaking with Wordes brother.

Jim Bell, owner of the eco-friendly burial grounds Milton Fields on Birmingham Road, donated a plot to the Wordes family for his burial.

"It's right in line with Andrew's purpose and his feelings about sustainability," Silva said. "It's just the most beautiful, perfect place, very peaceful."

Despite the explosive way Wordes life ended Monday when his house went up in flames, those who loved him hope to memorialize him on Friday in a peaceful, non-controversial manner. The memorial will be a time to share memories of a friendly man, beloved by many, who cared greatly for animals.

The memorial service is open to the public and will take place at Milton Fields on Friday, March 30 at 10:30 a.m. The cemetery is located at 1150 Birmingham Road, Milton, between Birmingham Highway and Hopewell Road.

That was very thoughtful and kind of Mr Bell to donate a plot for Mr Wordes. I'll keep Milton Fields in mind when deciding where to lay my body.

I hope many people take the time to go to Milton Fields and say goodbye to our friend, Andrew. He wanted very little from this life except to have his animals, his home and some peace of mind.
