Coach Arrested, Charged with Sexual Assault of Minor - Marietta Patch

Isuru Pasan Perera, 31, of Marietta was arrested for multiple sexual offenses against a minor.

Perera was taken into custody without incident on Saturday, Sept. 8, and is being held without bond at the Cobb County Jail, according to Marietta Police.
 
The original incident occurred in June of 2010 when the female juvenile victim attended the Champion Softball Complex located at 505 Commerce Park Drive, according to Marietta Police. 

Perera, who was the victim’s coach/trainer, used his position to "coerce and intimidate the victim to commit multiple sexual acts against her," Police said. Numerous sexual assaults occurred over a two-year time frame. Every assault occurred in Perera’s office at the complex, Police said. See Marietta Patch for more on this story.

Police Suspect Son Killed Elderly Mother - Lawrenceville Patch

Gwinnett County Police say they believe an elderly woman's son may be responsible for her death.

Officers were called to 1139 Simonton Glen Way in unincorporated Lawrenceville at 10:28 Tuesday morning. The husband of 72 year old Phyllis Wilson and her care taker came back to the house to find the body of the partially paralyzed woman.

Officers observed some signs of trauma on Mrs. Wilson's body, but did not know the extent of her injuries. The Gwinnett Medical Examiner's Office determined she had been stabbed to death.

The Wilsons' son, 42 year old Mark Wilson who suffers from schizophrenia lives with the couple. However, police have not been able to track him down. They believe the son may be responsible for Mrs. Wilson's death. See Lawrenceville Patch for more on this story.

Two Students Arrested in High School Vandalism Case - Dallas-Hiram Patch

Paulding County Sheriff’s Office school resource officers about 2 p.m. Tuesday arrested two 16-year-old boys in connection with the Monday morning vandalism of East Paulding High School.

As the two are juveniles, authorities did not release their mugshots nor their names, but according to a sheriff’s office press release, both were East Paulding students who had been suspended from the school earlier in the year and were not allowed on school property. Both were students in the Ombudsman program, the alternative school program used by the school district.

The vandalism of the school happened about 1:46 a.m. Monday. Those involved spray-painted exterior parts of the school, including the auxiliary gym, two hallways, walls of the school and some sidewalks. Messages spray-painted on about 20 areas of the school included “Class of 2015,” “Illuminati,” and “Don’t do drugs, just smoke weed.” See Dallas-Hiram Patch for more on this story.
