Farley Receives Flourish Award from KSU

Georgia Ensemble Theatre's Artistic Director Robert J. Farley was named as the recipient of the 2011 Flourish Award from the Kennesaw State University College of the Arts.

Roswell's  Artistic Director Robert J. Farley recently received the 2011 Flourish Award from the Kennesaw State University College of the Arts for his work directing North Fulton's only professional theatre company and acting as a significant arts leader throughout the the metropolitan Atlanta community.

"Not only have you created a tremendous cultural asset for Fulton County, but the work that you do extends far beyond the county line," the Award selection committee told Farley. "Thank you for all that you do to help the arts 'flourish' in our community."

The College of the Arts created the Flourish Awards in 2005 to honor individuals and organizations in the community who support, promote or participate in the arts in metropolitan Atlanta and Northwest Georgia. Nominees are sought in four categories: arts leader, arts educator, public/community service and nonprofit arts organization or arts company. These nominations are reviewed by a distinguished panel of volunteers from the arts and media in our community.

The arts leader category is open to performers, artists, presenters, designers, directors, or administrators working in an arts-related field or for a program or organization that provides direct support to the arts or arts education.

"It’s an honor to be recognized by KSU," said Farley. "GET has had the opportunity to collaborate with many students and faculty from the Department of Theatre, Performance Studies and Dance throughout the years and it has been a joy to work with such talented artists. We look forward to continuing that collaboration in the future."
