It's a Wonderful Night: Going Out In Roswell

Roswell's top spots for an evening of fun.

Roswell's not just a great place to raise a family, it's also a city with a growing reputation for a good nightlife.

From lounges featuring rhythm and blues to sports bars with big screens, Roswell has a diverse nightlife that varies from the family-friendly to locales with adults in mind.

Here's a look at some of Roswell's most popular restaurants:

Ceviche

Fish tacos and a fun crowd are readily available at historic Roswell's Ceviche. With a menu boasting authentic Mexican cuisine and daily drink specials on everything from margaritas to sangria, Ceviche always draws a crowd.

Jenna Hamel, one of the restaurant's bartenders and catering manager, has been on the staff since the location opened three years ago. She describes the food as consistent and the atmosphere fun.

"One of our most popular items is Elsa's Chicken Enchilada Verde," Hamel says. "Everybody loves that. We're probably the most laid-back restaurant on Canton Street."

Another Ceviche specialty is the skinny margarita, made with agave nectar and fresh lime juice. Hamel says it's a better tasting margarita that has less sugar so it's not as sweet.

Harp Irish Pub

A step inside Harp Irish Pub on the east side of Roswell is about as close to Ireland as one will find in Georgia.

The restaurant claims to be "a little bit of Ireland in your own backyard"and with much of its interior imported straight from The Emerald Isle it's a fair statement.

A bartender at Harps since the location opened in 2001, Willie Walsh maintains the air of Ireland, serving customers with a thick Irish accent.

"We do fish and chips as well as anyone," Walsh says. "We're also proud to pour the perfect pint of Guinness. And of course we've got great Beef and Guinness Pie and Shepherd's Pie."

Walsh describes the perfect pint as one-part technique, one-part presentation and one-part taste, all resulting in the iconic dark beverage with the white, creamy head.

Harps features music on stage every Friday night and Sunday night jam sessions bring together a host of musicians.

Street Kitchen

From the family that gave Roswell Nine, a popular Canton Street restaurant, comes Street Kitchen at 982 Canton Street.

Street's day manager, Brian Callicutt, says they serve Neo-American cuisine with a southern twist.

"We do a roast beef tenderloin that is out of this world," he says. "It's a medallion cut beef tenderloin. We serve it with mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. It's the most tender, flavorful cut of meat you can get in Roswell."

Sitting inside Street is like sitting at the counter of a friend's home kitchen. The decor is accentuated with subtle reminders of home from the curtains all the way to the blankets available on the front patio to keep warm during dinner.

Recently reopened after renovations, the comfortable neighborhood hangout showcases live music Tuesday through Sunday nights, with mostly local musicians.

Street is gearing up for a New Year's party and a Valentine's Day menu with one-night only options that allow the restaurant's chef to freelance.

Another big hit at the downtown Roswell location is the chocolate cake, which Callicutt explains is made with four types of chocolate and fudge icing.

"It's an over-the-top big piece of chocolate cake," he says. "We serve it warm with ice cream."

Other popular Roswell nightlife locations to make sure you visit are:

Taco Mac

When all else fails, the popular Crossville location has 36 televisions, 108 beers on tap and its famous hot wings.
