Local Military Members Send Holiday Greetings Home
Some holiday greetings from those service men and women who won't be home for the holidays.
Remember the scene from the classic holiday movie, "White Christmas," in which Bing Crosby serenades an entire military unit missing the holidays back home? It's something many service men and women can relate to every year at this time. But thanks to modern technology, Roswell residents can still connect with friends and family members who are deployed overseas during the holidays.
In an effort to allow loved ones back home the chance receive a holiday greeting from the military member they'll be missing most this year, the Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System organization recorded video clips from thousands of service members deployed in locations all over the world.
Roswell residents missing someone in particular can view the messages sent to friends and family in Georgia or any other state. To watch a specific video, type the name of the service member you're looking for in the search box at the top righthand side of the screen. The site will automatically pull up any recent messages by that person.
You can then download the message or send it via an e-mail holiday greeting card to anyone else you know would love to see it.
While a short message is no substitute for actually having them home, hearing and seeing your loved one may be the greatest gift you receive this holiday season.
