Following nominations by peers and patients, North Fulton Hospital leaders and staff recently presented Earlene Nichols, RN, with the DAISY Award for the month of January.
Nichols, who has been a nurse for 10 years, has been with the Intensive Care Unit at North Fulton Hospital for two and half years. Respected for her dedication, compassion and leadership, Nichols desire to assist when needed in critical care and women’s health services makes her valued among her peers and among the hospital’s leadership team.
“Earlene changed the nature of my experience at North Fulton Hospital,” said one patient in a written statement from the hospital. “Just by genuinely listening and then taking charge to change what was necessary, she made me a highly satisfied patient. Earlene made it her job to add value to my patient experience.”
Each month, North Fulton Hospital honors outstanding nurses who consistently and without fail go above and beyond.
"North Fulton Hospital is proud to have nurses like Earlene Nichols working in every area of the facility," says Stuart Downs, Chief Nursing Officer. "The care they provide goes beyond what is expected. Instead of simply treating patients for their physical needs, these nurses treat their patients as if they were their own family members, tending to their mental and emotional needs as well. The hospital will continue to recognize these phenomenal nurses for the work that they do every day."
