Fellowship Christian School Paladins are still on the road to a much desired state championship after an impressive 7-0 win over the visiting Aquinas School from Augusta, Saturday, May 12.
The team - which is led by eight seniors - has been knocked out of the state tournament by the eventual state champion each of the last two years, including a loss in the semifinals last year.
Although the whole team has worked hard to get where they are now, the three Division One signees showed up strong Saturday as Emma Sonnet (ESPN ranked 89) led the defense to another shutout, Elizabeth Johnson (ESPN ranked 106) scored an early first half goal and Emily Sonnett (ESPN ranked 22) led the offense with five goals. The entire team played with precision Saturday, showing excellent passing skills, while maintaining the majority of possession and flow of the game.
The next step toward the championship finds FCS facing Pace Academy on Wednesday in the semifinals.
