Local Businesses Will Be 'Rockin' Roswell for a CURE!' Thursday

Help save lives by dining in Roswell, Thursday, July 12.

Eating well will help save lives in more ways than one Thursday night, as restaurants in the historic district rally to begin "Rockin Roswell for a CURE!"

By dining out at participating restaurants in Roswell, customers can feel good knowing 20 percent of each sale helps save lives.

The event was first begun last year by Spencer Pest Services in Roswell. The idea was to have local businesses donate a percentage of their profits over the course of one evening, joining the Stick It 2 Cancer team which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Last year, Diesel Pizza Pub and Ceviche participated and together raised $700 during a three hour period on a Sunday evening. This year, nine restaurants and one gift shop will all be participating. The expectation is to raise $10,000 during the event on Thursday.

Patrons can dine at any of the nine participating restaurants or visit The Chandlery. Twenty percent of all sales from 5 p.m. until close on Thursday, July 12, will be donated to Stick It 2 Cancer.

This year, Somedia Solutions has joined Spencer Pest Services in hosting this special fundraising event.

Participating restaurants include:

Also stop by The Chandlery at 950 Canton Street.

Cancer of the blood and bone marrow is what the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) focuses on. They offer telephone support, online chats and family support groups. Purchases on July 12 at participating "Rockin’ Roswell for a CURE!" businesses help LLS find cures for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma as well as providing support services and free information.

LLS is proud to develop 85 percent of all cancer fighting drugs for all types of cancer, not just blood cancers.

The cost to fund a researcher is $1,000 per week. With this in mind, Stick It 2 Cancer's overall goal is to raise $104,000 in efforts to fund two researchers for a year.

The event takes place in historic Roswell from 5 p.m.-close on Thursday, July 12.
