Roswell Area Students Named 'Athletes of the Year' by the AJC

Emily Sonnett and Kourtney Keegan took top honors in their respective sports this year.

Each year the Atlanta Journal Constitution names high school athletes in each sport as its "Atletes of the Year" - this year, the list included two Roswell area school sports stars.

For girls soccer, Emily Sonnett of Fellowship Christian was honored as the top athlete in her sport for this past school year. According to the newspaper, the FCS senior had 25 goals and 12 assists during the 2012 season. Sonnett was also named an ESPN first-team all-American and a member of the Under-18 Women’s National Team. She has signed to play soccer at the University of Virginia.

Within girls tennis, junior Kourtney Keegan at Blessed Trinity was 19-0. According to the AJC, she is the No. 1 high school junior girls player in Georgia. Keegan has committed to play tennis at the University of Florida when she graduates.
