Roswell youth, Raychel Germaine, placed 14th in the women's singles competition for luge at the first Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck on Monday, Jan. 16, according to the final results that were uploaded today.
Germaine - who just turned 17 on Jan. 7 - is the southernmost athlete for USA's Winter Youth Olympic Games team and still she placed second highest for the girls USA luge team; behind Summer Britcher, who placed fifth.
"We had little mini luge sleds when we were younger to go down the snow with," she told Olivier. "Other than that, I've only been sliding for three years."
Germaine, who completes her schooling online during the winter months, travels to the Winter Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York, for a week of training on the sliding track each month, according to the Boxscore article.
