Roswell Mayor Wood Wins Charity Challenge

North Fulton Community Charities gained $1,000 in mostly wrapped toys in a challenge between Alpharetta and Roswell's 'first couples.'

Alpharetta Mayor Arthur Letchas and his wife, Sally, faced off against Roswell Mayor Jere Wood and his wife, Judie Raiford, but the real winner was .

The Roswell and Alpharetta Convention and Visitors Bureaus sponsored the gift wrap challenge at on Oct. 18, which gave each couple a limited amout of time to wrap gifts, complete with bow.

Roswell won the most gifts wrapped honors, with 28 to Alpharetta's 25. But Sally Letchas had the best looking gift wrapping, giving Alpharetta the nod on that recognition.

Janet Rodgers of the and Dottie Etris of the jointly sponsored the challenge with the mall to push local shopping as the Christmas shopping season approaches.
