Roswell Mourns the Loss of Brittney Watts

Services were held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church this morning, Tuesday, July 19.

UPDATED: July 20, 11:18 a.m. - Hundreds turned out for the funeral services held Tuesday morning at the Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for Brittney Watts, the 26-year-old woman in Midtown Atlanta on Friday.

From the somber atmosphere, it was apparent that the loss of Watts - a native of Roswell and graduate of both Roswell High School and the University of Georgia - had a significant impact on her hometown of Roswell.

The woman friends say was always so had only recently returned to the Atlanta area, moving into a Decatur neighborhood with her husband.

Roswell High School Principal Jerome Huff said he was incredibly saddened by Watts death, which he learned of upon returning home from vacation this week.

Huff was assistant principal at the school when Watts and her husband, Brian, attended. He called her a "quiet leader," saying she was very "studious" and "served others."
