Self-Defense Instructor Donates Fees To SAFER

Roswell Self-Defense Instructor Jennifer Riis-Poulsen offers grand opening class to honor International Women's Day.

In honor of the centennial celebration of International Women’s Day, one Roswell self-defense instructor is working to empower local women as well as expand her reach by donating to the international cause.

In conjunction with the grand opening of her self-defense class, instructor Jennifer Riis-Poulsen has promised 10 percent of her fees will go toward Students Active For Ending Rape (SAFER), an organization that fights sexual violence by empowering student-led campaigns to reform college sexual assault policies. Riis-Poulsen, a second degree black belt, will also be teaching self-defense classes for several middle and high school Girl Scout Troops in the Roswell area.

“When statistics show that one in five college ladies are sexually assaulted, this is an important cause to keep alive with donations. My ultimate goal is to see a significant drop in the statistics on abuse against women by empowering them through their continuous training in self-defense,” Riis-Poulsen said. “I really look forward to spreading my program and donating to SAFER.”
