Best Places To Get Fried Chicken and More in Roswell

I love fried chicken. It’s one of my favorite foods. I’d be interested in finding out what Patch readers think is the best place to go for fried chicken in Roswell.

In my opinion, Greenwood’s Restaurant at 1087 Green Street, is a top contender. Greenwood’s has been a fixture in Roswell since 1986. The restaurant features farm fresh, homemade food and everything I’ve tasted there is delicious. My favorite dish to order is Greenwood’s Fried Chicken, dipped in honey-pepper sauce, along with their cornbread biscuits and applesauce and sweet potatoes.  The portions are huge, consisting one half chicken, including one breast, one leg and one thigh.

My neighbor says that Kroger at Holcomb Bridge and Eves roads has scrumptious fried chicken in their deli section. She picks it up and pops it in the oven on 350 degrees for 20 minutes to get it crispy.

Do you have any favorite fried chicken places in Roswell? How about fried chicken recipes you want to share?

And don’t get me started on Italian. My favorite is Amalfi Ristorante Italiano at 292 South Atlanta Street in Roswell. It’s cozy and reminds me of an authentic New York Italian restaurant. If you can’t get to the Amalfi Coast, this may be the next best thing. I usually get the Calamari Fritti, the Mozzarella Caprese salad and Linguine con Vongole, fresh little neck clams sautéed with garlic and extra virgin olive oil on a bed of pasta. The bread is great, too. There is typically a wait, so get there early.

For a special occasion, I also love Bistro VG at 70 W Crossville Road in Roswell. We went there for my birthday last week and had a delicious meal and a wonderful dining experience. I’ve never had a bad meal there. My favorite is the Crispy Calamari, Linguine with Littleneck Clams, lemon and Italian parsley (Do you notice a trend here?). My husband got the Braised Short Ribs and my daughter got Atlantic Salmon with caramelized cauliflower and everyone loved their meals. I also recommend the Almond Joy Martini.

For Chinese or Thai, try Thai House, 1227 Alpharetta Street in Roswell. Great service, great food, no wait. My favorite is the Bangkok Shrimp (Thai), but everything is good.

What are your favorite restaurants in Roswell?

You're making me hungry, Marilyn! My favorite bread bakery in Roswell is Artisan Bakery Cafe. They have the most wonderful French baguettes...crisp flakey crust, soft & chewy on the inside! I could eat the whole loaf by itself with a glass of their homemade Yuzu Basil OrangeAde.

Thanks, Beci. Other people have told me about that bakery but I haven't tried it yet, which reminds me of another wonderful French bakery in Roswell -- Douceur De France at 1173 Alpharetta Street. The pastries are amazing! You can also eat there.

Love the Flying Biscuit! They have chicken too, but I think its oven-fried...still yummy!

Thanks, Lindsey. I actually have been to the new Flying Biscuit in Roswell and like it too, but I usually get pancakes. I haven't tried their fried chicken. I always think of fried chicken as being on the bone, but I'll have to try the oven-fried.
