Weight loss can be exhausting.
It's exhausting when you want it too much, when you think about the forbidden foods calling your name all day long, when you start a new diet while you still hold onto the belief that says "I'm probably going to fail with this one too," or when you throw yourself into it with the expectation that you can stick with something ridiculously low calorie or really boring or overly complicated.
It's not going to work and you are settlng yourself up to fail. You might succeed for a week or a month or even two months, but things will almost certainly return to where they were before the diet, or worse. The whole process is exhausting.
Do you really want to lose weight? Think about this long and hard.
If you want to lose it for yourself rather than to please someone else, or if too much weight is making you sad and depressed and unable to move your body without pain, or if you have no energy, then now could be the time to act on it. If the doctor is telling you that you could end up on medication for diabetes or if you have risk factors for heart disease or stroke, then take this motivating information and use it to your advantage. It absolutely will be in your best interest to lose weight. And really wanting it is critical. You must be ready.
So how do you go about losing the weight without entering into this chronic state of exhaustion? How do you have success that will last? Can you? The answer is yes, loud and clear. To do this you must find a way of eating and relating to food that is different from what you are doing now. It is a matter of learning some specifics about food, re-thinking meals, cooking and shopping. But it's also about restructuring your habits, your actions and your thoughts. What happens in that five second period when you choose the foods that you know aren't best for you? How do you intervene in that "I don't care" moment? How can you stop eating when your body has had enough but your brain keeps directing you to eat? You can learn how to do all these things - I can teach you.
