About this column:
Roswell Patch Editor Christine Foster shares local insight and opinion.Recently we've foregone the usual coffee chains whenever possible in order to to sip some java at several local spots so we can share our thoughts with you. We consider taste, temperature, freshness and the aesthetics of the establishment. Here's what we thought of Plum Cafe, which took over the space formerly belonging to Aunt Kimmy's Creations. The Shop Plum Cafe - 1055 Canton Street, Suite 110 There is plenty to say about the cafe as a whole, but for the purposes of this column, we'll just stick to the basics for now. You name it and there is probably a day to celebrate it. Today, Feb. 22, just happens to be National Margarita Day. The drink's origins are debated; some say it was concocted by a barman in Mexico City for Marguerite Hemery during 1934, while others claim it comes from Texas. Where ever it's from, no one can dispute its popularity. The Georgia Grille at 2290 Peachtree Road NW in Atlanta is even throwing a party to celebrate the sweet and sour drink. We've also met and introduced you to …

Over the years, I've grown into the need for coffee and have actually begun to appreciate its taste as well. Or perhaps I should say, I love coffee that's been creamed, sugared and maybe even flavored a little. Give me a good cappuccino or latte, with just enough caffeine to get me through the day and I'm happy. Michael, on the otherhand, is Italian and practically born with his undying love for coffee. Third generation American, he grew …
It's hard being a girl sometimes. The old adage sums it up quite well: sugar and spice. Yes, we are often the more nurturing and relational sex; but we're also experts in being able to discern and then dissect others - right down to the core. So how has social media allowed our gender to play into both our strengths and weaknesses? With 95 percent of American teens online and 80 percent of those same teens on social media sites, it is bound to highlight our triumphs and failures. A recent research study by the Pew Research Center shows that teens can be mean online. Shocked? The study - …
