Happy and Safe Holidays From Actio Security

We at Actio would like to wish everybody a Happy Thanksgiving and give you a couple of tips to insure that if you are traveling you have a safe and secure home.  

Make your house looked lived in :  When you are away making your home look occupied is a great deterrent to potential thieves.  For example leaving lights on a timer to come on when it gets dark, don't let your mail build up and/or even leaving a car parked in your driveway are great little things that you can do to make it look like you are home when your not.  

Check all your doors and window locks: This sounds like a simple thing but we don't always lock and unlock all our windows and doors everyday.  You might not know one is broken or is just simply not locked until you check it.  

Don't broadcast where you are going:  With everybody having some form of social media account, it is easy to inform friends and family that you are leaving for vacation.  Just remember that you are telling everyone on Facebook and Twitter as well.  Even though you are excited about your trip it is a better idea to wait until you return to share the details of your trip with everyone. 

Make sure that your home alarm system is working: You shouldn't wait until the last minute to make sure that your home alarm system is in working order.  If something is wrong and you need service, waiting to the last minute might cause you to not get it fixed in time.  I would suggest that you test your system at least a week prior to leaving, this way you have more time to try and schedule for repairs to be made.
