Why is Cellular Monitoring a Good Idea for Your Home

For many years now land lines have been the primary method of monitoring home alarm systems.  Land lines utilizes a copper line which can be vulnerable to both natural and deliberate outages.  This means in terms of the alarm someone from the outside could disable the phone line causing your alarm to not send a signal to the monitoring station.  In turn you nor the police would be notified that someone was trying to break into your house.  It is really hard to protect your home from phone line tampering due to the fact that where the phone lines come into the house are exposed on the outside. Besides building a small fence around the area they will always be vulnerable to the possibility of outside tampering. Now days it is becoming very popular to add cellular communication to your alarm system.
A cellular unit that is added onto your alarm system can be used as back up for the land line in case it is cut or if the phone lines go down, or you can use it as the main means for the alarm to communicate with the monitoring station.  This option allows you to get rid of your land line all together which in turn means that you don't have the added expense of paying for the home telephone line that can run anywhere from $25 to $30 a month.
The cellular unit also comes with some interactive features that allows the user to control the alarm from a cell phone.  With your cell phone you can get notifications when someone turns off and on the alarm system, which comes in handy if you have kids coming home from school alone or if you have workers that enter the house without you being home.  You can also arm and disarm the system from your mobile device allowing you even more freedom with the alarm system.
