Bleeding Green

Hello Roswell, let me introduce myself!

I wanted to do an introductory post that might provide some sort of an idea of where I live and what I see around our little (growing) city.

Just to kick it off: Hi, my name is Adriana and I bleed green.

In Roswell, that takes on a whole new meaning. Well, if you live west of 400. I participate in lots of activities and events around Roswell and would love to share my experiences, photographs and videos with you, hopefully weekly and I might even see you out and about sometimes!

Here are a few of the things I participate in and think you might enjoy or at least appreciate hearing about.

I am a Girl Scout leader in the Roswell community. Our troop has been together for 8 years and we have 10 AMAZING girls and 9 AMAZING families. On a larger scale, we currently serve over 1,100 girls in 60 schools west of Ga. 400 from the age of 5-18 and we have over 200 volunteers. I have never seen so many parents and girls move mountains the way I have seen these people go at it. If you think cookies are the only thing associated with Girl Scouts, let me give you something to think about. These girls have served our community by manning food drives, coat drives, blanket drives, creating no-idling zones at local schools, collected boxes and items to send to soldiers serving overseas, collected and provided school supplies for children in need, hosted events for thousands of girl participants in the way of camps and workshops, created educational programs for new pet owners, provided a safety workshop for elementary school kids, provided a venue for girls from four different counties to learn about service project or educational opportunities and more! All of this has taken place during the last 12 months! So, if you see girl out there offering up a box of cookies, think about buying one more box and remember, they are probably trying to raise money for a project that could benefit you or your community directly.

The other event we began taking part in last year was the football games on Friday nights. This is the newer portion of my green bleeding since their colors are black and green. While the season ended with no wins, it was always fun, exciting and full of energy. Even in the cold rain! The enthusiasm of the staff, students and families around this school is great and contagious. When you sit in the stands during the games it takes you back to high school. The student section has a great tradition called the flour toss, you really have to check out the attached video to get a feel for it. Additionally, there is this fantastic play announcer. I have no idea what his name is but when the RHS Hornets have a 1st and 10, he yells it out to really get your attention.

Hey moms and dads! We have created a 1st and 10 Hornet Club on Facebook if you are interested! Wear your green and black and come sit with us near the band. It is fun for all ages!

I look forward to bringing info on things going on in our great city.
