Canine Assistance Giving Tree

Please stop by the front lobby at Chrysalis to see our Canine Assistants Giving Tree!  There you can pick a bone off of the tree which will have an item listed on it for you to donate to Canine Assistants. Items needed include: liquid hand soap, paper towels, napkins, laundry detergent, and plastic silverware.

Canine Assistants is a non-profit organization that trains and provides service dogs to enhance and improve the lives of children and adults who have physical disabilities, seizure conditions or other special needs. Canine Assistants was started in 1991 and places 75-100 dogs annually. Puppies begin their training (through our Super Dog Program) at two days of age, and it takes them about a year and a half to complete the training program. Canine Assistants does not charge for any of their services. The lifelong care for each of their dogs is well over $20,000, so Canine Assistants creates sponsorships to cover the medical, food and training costs for the life of every dog placed. They use the support of individuals, foundations and corporations to fund their sponsorships and programs.

In April, one of our students will be getting a canine assistant of their own! There are three dogs currently being trained and the one that ‘chooses’ our student will be the one they get!
