INVITATION FOR ASSISTED ATHLETES TO RACE AT HOLCOMB BRIDGE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Roswell, GA. October 21, 2013:  Assisted student athletes and community members are encouraged to attend the third annual Holcomb Bridge Hustle 5K, a 3.1 mile road race offered by a partnership between the Kyle Pease Foundation and Holcomb Bridge Middle School (HBMS) in Alpharetta, Georgia. The race will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 8:00 am. The Kyle Pease Foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes success for young persons with disabilities by providing assistance to meet their individual needs through sports and competition.  Through the partnership with HBMS, students from surrounding schools are invited to participate in this year’s event. The Kyle Pease Foundation can facilitate the participation of students by assisting with student race registration fees, providing a custom fitted race chair and providing a race pusher for the assisted-athlete.

“Jason had a great time and kept screaming for 'more running!'” said Andrea Dorn of her son Jason’s experience at the 2012 Holcomb Bridge Hustle. “The experience was very meaningful to Jason—and the Kyle Pease Foundation made it so quick and easy for us! Jason loved being part of the larger group, as well as breaking away from mom and dad to be pushed by his buddy Kyle.  I would highly recommend this event for all special needs students.”

Mike Buteau, Co-chair for the Hustle 5K event agrees. “After partnering with the Kyle Pease Foundation last year to raise awareness and participation opportunities for assisted-athletes, we are very excited about this year’s event and anticipate having even more assisted-athletes join.”  Last year’s race drew over 400 participants from the school and surrounding community, including two Holcomb Bridge Middle School assisted-athletes and six others from the community.  “It was a fun and rewarding experience for all,” said Buteau.

HBMS Principal Joy Schroerlucke is pleased to host the event again. “The Hustle 5K event continues to exceed my expectations. Through our Global Classroom initiative and our iCare About Others program, we are devoted to building in our students a passion for being kind and helpful to all to make a difference in the world. Their enthusiasm has spread to our community, creating a true spirit of optimism and collaboration. I’m very excited to see the turn-out we will have at our third annual event this year.”
