Yankey Returns Home to Roswell

Stanford football player David Yankey has returned home to Roswell for a family situation.

Stanford senior offensive guard David Yankey has returned to his hometown of Roswell due to a family situation and will not be with the fifth-ranked Cardinal on Saturday when it plays Washington State in Seattle.

Yankey was a consenus All-American last year, and was named to many preseason All-American teams this year.

ESPN rated Yankey, who attended Centennial High, as the ninth-best player in the Pac-12 Conference.

"He's in our thoughts and prayers ... He'll be with his family this week. We hope 2 get him back soon," Cardinal coach David Shaw said, according to a tweet from Andy Drukarev, who covers the team regularly for Stanford Rivals.

Yankey was named Co-Offensive Player of the Game by his teammates for Saturday's 42-28 victory over Arizona State.
