Alien Runners Will Close Roswell Roads

The Area 13.1 Half Marathon will start at 7 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Park.

A major thoroughfare in Roswell will close for a little more than a half-hour to accommodate a half-marathon.

Riverside Road will be closed to traffic from between Ga. Highway 9 to Dogwood Road for approximately 40 minutes between 6:35 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.

The road will close for the Area 13.1 half-marathon put on by Alienhalf.com. The race will kick off at 7 p.m. at Riverside Park in Roswell.

Throughout the evening, one lane of the roads along the race route will be closed to traffic. Specific road closures include:

  • Riverside Rd. from Ga. Highway 9 to Dogwood Rd.
  • Eastbound will close at approx. 6:35 PM to 7:15 PM.
  • Westbound will close at approx. 6:45 PM to 7:15 PM.
  • Road will open as last runners turn right at Dogwood Rd.

  • Riverside Rd. from Dogwood to Old Alabama Rd.
    • Eastbound lane will close at approx. 7:00 PM to approx. 7:25 PM.
    • Westbound lane will remain open to traffic.
    • Road will open as last runners turn right at Old Alabama Rd.

  • Riverside Rd. from Old Alabama Rd. to Eves Rd.
    • Eastbound lane will close at approx. 7:15 PM to 8:30 PM.
    • Westbound lane remains open to traffic.
    • Road opens as last runners return and enter trail.

  • Old Riverside Rd. from Eves Rd. to Riverside Rd. – Residents should enter/exit via Eves Rd.
    • Southbound side will close at approx. 7:20 PM to 8:15 PM.
    • Northbound side will remain open.
    • Road opens as last runner turns left onto Riverside Rd.

  • Azalea Dr. from SR9 to Willeo Rd.
    • Eastbound lane will close at approx. 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM.
    • Westbound lane will remain open to traffic.
    • Road opens as last runner turns left onto Willeo Rd.

  • Willeo Rd. from Azalea Dr. to By Water Trail near Cobb County Line
    • Both north- and southbound lanes closed to traffic from 7:40 PM to 10:00 PM.
    • Road opens as last runner is picked up by event staff starting at 9:45 PM.
