Atlanta Metro's First Baby of 2012

The Leo couple from Suwanee now has a daughter named Scarlett Rayne.

A couple from nearby Suwanee made their own New Year's fireworks as they reportedly have the honor of bringing metro Atlanta's first baby of 2012 into the world.

Jennifer and Ryan Leo of Suwanee gave birth to daughter Scarlett Rayne at Northside Hospital just after the clock struck midnight Sunday, according to an e-mail by Katherine Watson of Northside Hospital.

Scarlett weighted 7 pounds, 15 ounces, and was 21 inches long. She joins two other siblings, sisters Adagia and Teagan.

"We watched the ball drop and then she came," Jennifer Leo said.

The couple had little noise makers and tiaras to celebrate the event.

"It was a fun experience," said Ryan. "This was better than fireworks. Every birth is special in some way, but this one is unforgettable."

The couple did not expect to have Scarlett so close to midnight, but rather a few hours later. "We were delighted," said Ryan.
