Atlanta Wind Symphony to Perform Free Holiday Concert

The "Unleashing the Inner Child" will take place Sunday, Nov. 9 at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.

The Atlanta Wind Symphony, a 65-member volunteer symphonic band, will feature a free holiday concert titled “Unleashing the Inner Child” on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 3 p.m. at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.

The concert will feature fun and festive music for families to get into the holiday spirit. Children and all those young at heart will enjoy entertaining music selections including Secret Agent Santa (Jeff Simmons) and Cartoon (Paul Hart), plus a special reading of the story 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and an appearance by one of Santa's elves.

To help spread the joy of the season, the band also will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots program.

Under the direction of new music director and conductor Dr. Cliff Tower, the band will also perform March of the Toys (Victor Herbert/arranged by Otto Langey and Herbert L. Clarke), Joy Revisited (Frank Ticheli), Greensleeves (arranged by Alfred Reed), Morning Alleluias for the Winter Solstice (Ron Nelson), Festivo (Edward Gregson), and Lux Aurumque (Light & Gold) (Eric Whitacre). Admission is free, but donations are requested to help defray the cost of the concert series.
