Canton Street Comes 'Alive After 5' Again Tonight

Roswell's popular street event is set for tonight, Thursday, Aug. 18.

School has started back and summer is winding down, but Canton Street still comes "Alive After 5" tonight, Thursday, Aug. 18.

A figurative monsoon swept over the popular Canton Street event last month, but organizers are hoping against a repeat today. There is only a 20 percent chance of isolated showers this afternoon and evening in Roswell, according to the National Weather Service.

The event, which takes place the third Thursday of each month through October, begins at 5 p.m and runs until 9 p.m.

Now in its sixth year, the event offers a little something for everyone - food, shopping, music and more. Retailers along Canton Street typically stay open late for the event, often offering special discounts to shoppers. In addition to the restaurants within the historic district, other food vendors are also on hand. And finally, a variety of local bands entertain the crowds at different locations along the street, while various local companies set up temporary shop in the yards of existing retailers.

Follow signs for offsite parking and take advantage of the free trolley that will drop people off at several locations along Canton Street.
