Canton Street Event 'After Noon' Kicks Off Tuesday

The new historic Roswell event will be held the first Tuesday of the month, from May to October.

You've heard of Alive After 5, now the businesses at the north end of Canton Street want to introduce you to "After Noon" - a special activities event from noon to 4 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month, from May to October.

After Noon, which officially kicks-off on Tuesday May 7, will create another fun experience for families visiting the historic district.

"I wanted to do something to spotlight the other end of the street," said organizer Ann-Marie Giglio. "Alive After 5 has been so successful that people now associate Canton Street with our excellent restaurants, which is wonderful. But actually, there are dozens of small businesses here serving a wide variety of needs. If you truly want to shop local, you can definitely do it on Canton Street."

Visitors will receive a map of the street with the participating businesses clearly marked as well as balloons at the locations with specials. Each business will be offering something unique to visitors during event days including discounts, free items, gift certificates and in-house raffles, according to event organizers.

According to Giglio, on Tuesday, CoreMatters is offering free stress-melter studio classes, Pilates Powerhouse is offering BOGO private sessions, NOCA is offering buy three entrees get one free, Elegant Attic is offering 20 percent off a total purchase. And many of the businesses are having in-house raffles.

"For example, Julianelli Salon is raffling a free Color Service and Sweet! will be raffling a basket of goodies," she said.

During the summer, visitors can also expect activities for children. Giglio is currently working to schedule an afternoon visit from the Chattahoochee Nature Center's traveling zoo, pull together a scavanger hunt, schedule a swap meet and youth dance and music performances.

"We want people to visit us and get to know our businesses in a relaxed atmosphere and allow us to treat them to something unique that will give them a chance to experience what we all do," said Giglio.
