Chihuahua Mix Named Ivan Ready for Adoption

Meet Ivan, a male Chihuahua mix who is approximately 3-4 years old and weighs 10 pounds. 

He is neutered, 90 percent house-trained, is up-to-date with all his shots and vetting, is micro-chipped and is ready to find the right, perfect family and forever home.  

Ivan came to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue from a high-kill shelter where he was dumped by his previous owner. As he was being left, his owner stated she "wanted nothing to do with him" and simply walked out. 

This precious dog was so traumatized by his experience, he had to be sedated at the vet's office when receiving his initial checkup and care. After knowing his background and circumstances, there is a strong suspicion of abuse and harm  that little Ivan endured before being rescued by Angels.  

Ivan is good with other dogs and cats but has serious "trust issues" with humans when first meeting and getting to know them.  He's not mean, he just is very afraid initially, and he has to have time and patience granted to him when getting to know someone so he can build up trust.

If you can look past his trust issues, you'll see a precious, shy and scared little dog who is very sweet as well as one who is always looking for approval from his human. 

Due to his nervousness and trust boundaries, Ivan would not be suitable for a home with children as fast, sudden movements scare him. He would be ideal for a quiet home where the owner is either retired or works from home. 

He currently sleeps in a gated room at night in his foster's home so he is not used to being crated. Ivan loves to go for walks and can be leash-walked, once you gain his trust.  He adores playing with all his toys, chewing on his bones, and likes very much to ride in a car with you. 

He will lay with you on the bed or sofa with you but due to his baggage and background, he's not big on snuggling.  He just loves being given the freedom to come up and lay quietly beside you, and is quite content just being in the moment and sharing your space and time.  

Ivan needs a loving, patient and caring family or person who will give him the gift of time to learn to love and trust them.  We cannot imagine what this sweet dog has endured in the past to make him so afraid of being harmed by humans again, but he does have a huge heart that wants more than anything to prance for you when he walks, and to show the world that his heart and his trust in humans can be won over again. 

All he asks is a warm, safe place to live that is filled with lots of love and understanding.  When he knows he has that, his wonderful warm heart will be yours forever!  Won't you take the chance on little Ivan and show him his dream of a forever home can come true?
