Child Development Association to Hold Anniversary Event

The Roswell-based family assistance organization is marking its 45th year later this month.

The Mayors of Roswell, Alpharetta and Sandy Springs will honor the 45th birthday of the Child Development Association on Wednesday, October 30th from 12:00-1:30 p.m. at the Country Club of the South. The public is invited.

The Child Development Association is a non-profit organization that provides early care and learning programs for low-income families.

Joining the celebration will be mistress of ceremonies, Linda Stouffer of WSB-TV Channel 2 and honorary chair, Bobby D. Cagle, Commissioner of Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning. The event will showcase the founding of the CDA and its forty-five years of service to children and families in our community.

The CDA will honor four influential citizens who have championed early childhood education for economically disadvantaged youth and have been instrumental to the organization’s success:

  • Henry and Anne (posthumously) Hicks, early leaders of the CDA, who have supported early childhood education and strived to strengthen families in our community for more than four decades.
  • Alicia Philipp, president of The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta, a regional leader in strengthening nonprofits and engaging donors effectively in vital community missions, like preparing low-income children for success in school.
  • Stephanie Blank, an ardent advocate for increased quality, accessibility and affordability of early childhood education.
