Cycling Festival Brings Amateur, Professional Bicyclists to Roswell

It's bound to be a fun bicycling weekend in historic Roswell this Sunday, April 29.

The Roswell Criterium races into Roswell's historic district this Sunday, April 29.

The event promises something for the whole family to enjoy. Spectators can enjoy a free day of watching cyclists or patronizing local historic district merchants. And athletes - both serious and for-fun - can register to ride in several biking events until 5 p.m. tonight, Friday, April 27.

Mayor's Ride - Start and finish at , 10495 Woodstock Road, Roswell

  • Ride Start Time – 8 a.m.
  • 6-mile Tour: Free Family Ride – Bring the Family and ride the flat jaunt around beautiful historic Roswell fully escorted by the Roswell Police. No training wheels.
  • 20-mile Challenge: Adds 14 miles of rolling hills to the tour route.
  • 40-mile Workout: All of the above, plus 20 more challenging, beautiful miles.

Registration fee will include pre-ride refreshments, t-shirt, ride with rest stops, lunch and VIP seating for the exciting Roswell Criterium bicycle race that afternoon in Historic Roswell. Free Family Ride participants may purchase lunch and t-shirt separately.

The day-of Mayor’s Ride fee for one rider is $35. Family group discounts available. 

Historic Roswell Kiwanis Kids Bike Safety Rodeo - To be held in the parking lot of Roswell United Methodist Church on Mimosa Boulevard, children can ride bikes and learn safety rules in a Kids Zone; while parents are able to wander the Vendor Village.

  • 2 p.m. Registration begins
  • 3 p.m. Rodeo begins                
  • 4:45 p.m. Roswell Police escort children to race circuit for youth races, approximately.              
  • 5 p.m. Rodeo ends                 
  • 5:30 p.m. Shimano Youth Series Kid's Races,

The Kids Bicycle Safety Rodeo is co-sponsored by the Key Club of and the Builders Club of .

Historic Roswell Criterium - Drop by any of the shops and restaurants in the historic district or the New Belgium Brewery beer garden for some refreshment as you watch the professional races, which begin at 10 a.m. and go until 7:30 p.m.
