Local Doctor to Address Women's Health Issues at AAUW Meeting

The North Fulton Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) meeting will be Nov. 10.

The North Fulton Branch of the American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its next meeting on Saturday, Nov. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon in a member’s home. 

The local Branch consists of women who reside in Cumming, Alpharetta, John’s Creek, Milton, Roswell and Sandy Springs. As part of national AAUW, members are committed to advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. 

November’s guest speaker, Dr. Keisa J. Godwin, received her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed her residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. A native of Atlanta, she joined North Atlanta OBGYN after more than two years in practice at Emory University. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology, the National Medical Association and the Atlanta OBGYN Society. Godwin practices at Northside Hospital and comes to AAUW through the efforts of Northside Hospital’s Speaker’s Bureau.

Godwin will address medical issues pertaining to women’s health. Members will hear about nutrition, exercise, heart health, health screenings, and breast and ovarian cancer, among other important topics. The club has also asked Godwin to address the many confusing and often contradictory messages heard in the media.

Coffee and light refreshments are served from 10 a.m.-10:30 a.m. There will be a lot of time for discussion and questions from the audience will be welcomed.
