Enjoy A 'Garden Faire' at Bulloch Hall Next Weekend

The North Fulton Master Gardeners will host "A Garden Faire" at next Saturday, April 28.

This year’s theme -- “Scarecrows in the Garden” – will showcase five unique scarecrows that will be available for sale. There will also be vendors with garden accessories and tools, along with specialty plant vendors and the popular “Pass-Along-Plant-Sale” featuring plants from the Master Gardeners’ own gardens, along with food.

“For anyone who likes to ‘collect’ plants, our annual Garden Faire is a wonderful place to find some of the more unusual plants to spotlight in your garden,” said Debbie Brennan, Garden Faire chairperson. “Some plants are shared by the Master Gardeners themselves and others will be sold by a wide selection of nurseries throughout the state who will be here as vendors. Plan to come early for the best selection!”

“I love seeing the community come out to learn about plants that grow well in this area and then be able to obtain those plants to take home and put in their gardens,” said Chris Adams, President, North Fulton Master Gardeners. “The revenue we raise from Garden Faire is used to support six school and public garden projects in the North Fulton communities, including the Demonstration Garden here at Bulloch Hall.”

Presentations include: 

• 10:30 a.m. “Plant a Birdbath: Bath Time for Sedums.” Demonstration by landscape designer Tim Stoddard, who will show how to plant a cement birdbath with a variety of popular sedums and succulents.  Raffle tickets will be available for sale and the lucky winner will take home the birdbath planter for their own garden!

• Noon: “Trend Alert: Burlap.” Presented by author Lynda Mee, who has co-authored an entertaining and cook book, “Romancing the Home Entertains.”  Lynda’s presentation will introduce earthy, shabby chic incorporating burlap as a major decorating feature.  Come see the new twists Lynda offers as she creatively inspires burlap use in the home.  

• 1:30 p.m. “Seed and Feed: How to Attract Birds to Your Garden – Safely!” David Boyd, Program Manager, Dunwoody Nature Center. Learn how to maximize birding enjoyment in your garden while minimizing damage to your garden area.  Find out how to get those beautiful bluebirds to hang out in your garden!

An opportunity to buy:

• Pass Along Plant Sale. Most of the plants offered for sale are grown in the home gardens of the North Fulton Master Gardeners. 

• Specialty Plants. Great selection of more than 20 varieties of herbs, along with hard-to-find spring ephemerals, such as three kind of trillium, celadon poppy, Solomon’s seal, epimedium, and more.  

• Vendors. A wide variety of plants, garden tools, birdhouses and gardening accessories.

• Fleatique and Bake Sale.

• Food. The Lunch Cart will be provided by Roswell’s The Real Deal.

• Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions
