Enjoy the Southern Trilogy Historic Homes Candlelight Tour, Dec. 8

The annual tradition continues this year, Saturday, Dec. 8.

There aren’t many occasions to see things as they would have been viewed in the 1800’s, but the Southern Trilogy Historic homes are providing just that opportunity at the annual Candlelight Tour on Dec. 8 from 5 p.m.-9 p.m.  Barrington Hall, Bulloch Hall and Smith Plantation have tastefully decorated each majestic home in their holiday finery for all to enjoy.

Delight in Smith Plantation’s decorations by the Roswell Garden Club as they reveal ‘Christmas in Georgia’. The Caledonia Women (violins and cello) will perform throughout the evening and there will be a fire in the outdoor kitchen with open hearth cooking of gingerbread and hot apple cider.

At Bulloch Hall, walk through the house and ‘evesdrop’ on ladies in the Parlor discussing Mittie Bulloch’s up-coming 1853 wedding. Listen to musician, Carla Crowell, play the keyboard while you take a glimpse of a ‘Presidential Past’ in each room from George to Jimmy. The North Fulton Master Gardeners will be making winter “Tussie Mussies” and will gladly teach you how to do the same while blacksmith John Scroggin gives demos and sells his wares. Finish your evening outside in the service yard with a hot chocolate and roast marshmallows as story teller Mary Williams shares some interesting yarns.

Next door at Barrington Hall, enjoy music of the season played on the restored 1857 Chickering piano, then stop by the barn for fun crafts geared toward the young and the young at heart. Round out your visit in the kitchen with some hot cider and desserts. New this year, dozens of festive Holiday wreaths donated by Roswell businesses and civic groups will be displayed throughout Barrington Hall and are available for purchase. All proceeds will be donated to the Make a Wish Foundation.

As Thomas Edison once said, “One day, only the rich will burn candles”. Come and enjoy this lovely evening by candlelight and recreate a little piece of history for you and yours during this very special time of year!
