Get Out: 5 Things To Do This Weekend

Enjoy this spring weekend by hunting for Easter eggs, enjoying music, or learning how to plant a garden.

Where/When: Chattahoochee Nature Center, Saturday, April 23, 2011, 12 p.m.

Why: The Great Cloth Diaper Change 2011 will attempt to set a world record for the most cloth diapers ever changed simultaneously. The event, which is taking place at the same time throughout the globe, is a way for locals to share an environmental awareness through cloth diapering, which saves the earth from billions of diapers dumped in landfills every year.

Pikes Nurseries 
 

Why:  Spring and summer weather brings time for festive outdoor entertaining, and Pike Nurseries can help any homeowner assemble colorful and decorative planters that will wow any guest. At this seminar, Pike Nurseries garden experts will educate customers on the simple steps to choosing the right plants and assembling a container garden to hold “thriller, filler and spiller” plants.

Where/When: , 12025 Etris Rd, Roswell, Saturday, April 23, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Why: Children will begin hunting for candy and eggs promptly at 12 p.m. with special prize eggs hidden in each hunt area. Separate areas will be designated for different age groups and the Easter Bunny will make an appearance. Parents may accompany children in the 1’s and 2’s age group areas. Face painting, music, entertainment and other activities will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Open to children up to age 7.

Where/When: 1072 Green St, Roswell (Swallow at the Hollow), Friday, April 22. 10 p.m.

Why: Four classically trained sisters explore and create music that transcends traditional genres, blending country, pop, rock and more to create a mesmerizing musical experience. In August, this talented young band took center stage as the opener for Sarah Mclachlan's Chastain Park show in Atlanta. They have continued to perform at a variety of venues and festivals in the Southeast. Friday night they are in Roswell.

Where/When: , 2200 Encore Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30009, Friday, April 22,  7:30 p.m.

Why:  This concert is benefiting rebuilding efforts in Haiti. Presented by Six Step Records & Passion City Church. The event will include speaking by Louie Giglio and music by Chris Tomlin, Christy Nockels and Kristian Stanfill as a part of the celebration.

Price:  $15

Where/When: 2 S Main St, Alpharetta, GA 30009, Saturday, April 23, 8 a.m. –12:30 p.m.

Why: You will find farmers with fruits and vegetables, gardeners with fresh flowers and plants and makers of all sorts of edible home goods from yummy desserts to local raw honey and homemade sauces and jellies.
