Set in a murky swamp overrun with birders, scientists and reporters, this spellbinding documentary explores the seductive power of hope and how one phantom woodpecker changed a sleepy Southern town. Why:  Shredd your important/private documents at the Roswell Public Works facility. There is a limit of 5 boxes or 200 pds of documents per vehicle. Roswell and non-Roswell residents are welcome to participate.

Where/When: Art Center West, 1355 Woodstock Rd, Roswell, GA 30075, May 19 – May 21, Friday (10 a.m. – 8 pm), Saturday (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.), Sunday (12 p.m. – 5 p.m.) 

Why: This year Roswell’s Art Center West adds a new twist to its annual Spring "Works in Clay Show and Sale." In celebration and appreciation of their loyal attendees, on Saturday, May 21, the center is offering not only free ice cream to all who attend the show, but also a chance to discover the joy of sitting at a potter’s wheel and making a vase or bowl. During this time, there will be ongoing free demonstrations and instruction for all who care to explore this art medium.

Why: Learn how to select, plant and maintain beautiful rose bushes. This lively class will present guests with simple tips on creating a rose bed in any garden to ensure that gardeners of any skill level can raise blossoming bushes. Saturday is also,customer appreciation day at Pike. The company will be thanking patrons for "playing in the dirt" with a complimentary cookout serving hamburgers, hotdogs and cracker jacks from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Why: Cake-tastrophe! is a family fun food fight for the cause, Next Generation Focus. Come dressed is your protective gear and prepare to get messy! Main event is the food fight and creme pie throwing.  Forsyth County Sheriff's office will be present to discuss Stranger Danger and let the kids go in patrol car, Forsyth County Firefighters will have an engine and talk about fire safety, Cici's will be selling pizza, Starbucks will sell coffee and La Cupcakerie will be selling cupcakes.

 Why: Attention aspiring writers, creative souls and those looking to improve their lives! The Northeast/Spruill Oaks Adult and Young Adult Services Department is proud to present : Guided Journaling Therapy. Join Jamie Goldberg for an informative workshop in which you will learn how to break free from the old "story" you have been living, to create a new life for yourself. Participants will learn how to explore and express themselves creatively through the healing and transformative power of journaling.
