Get Out: 5 Things To Do This Weekend

This Memorial Weekend join a celebration recognizing our fallen heroes, give some blood or help some of man's best friends.

Where/When: , 38 Hill Street, Roswell, GA 30075, Monday, May 30, 10 a.m. – 12:45 p.m.

Why Go?: Celebrate Memorial Day with up to 6,000 other local and non-local citizens in downtown Roswell.  Recognized as the largest Memorial Day Ceremony in Georgia this is a non-political, non-commercial ceremony honoring veterans and the sacrifices they made in protecting our freedom.

Where/When: St. George Village, 11350 Woodstock Road, Roswell, GA 30075, Thursday, May 26, 4 p.m.

Why Go? Enjoy a performance by Southern Winds. Southern Winds is a community of amateur musicians at least 50-years-old who play for fun. Most band members were active in their school music groups and in some cases, military bands.

Why Go?: Enjoy cars and canines with your family and friends at this car show in Alpharetta. The event includes: a car show, adoptions for pets, shopping, silent auction and food. Car show entry is $25 (includes lunch for two and a t-shirt).

Where/When: , 4075 Spot Road, Cumming, GA 30040, Tuesday, May 31, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Why Go?:  Do you wish to be more informed about habitats, natural resources and the environment of our state and county. Join the Georgia Master Naturalist Program, an Adult Environmental Education Course developed by the University of Georgia (UGA) Cooperative Extension Service and the Warnell School of Forestry and Natural Resources. Participants will hear from experts who manage our natural resources, including faculty from UGA, specialists from the Georgia Forestry Department, Cooperative Extension, Keep Forsyth County Beautiful personnel and others.

Price: $200 for county residents and $240 for non-county residents.

Where/When: Northside Hospital-Forsyth, Bennett Education Center, 1400 Northside Forsyth Drive, Cumming, Friday, May 27, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Why Go?: Consider donating blood for fellow Americans this Memorial Day Weekend. All donors receive a free t-shirt and free parking.  As long as you are healthy, weigh at least 110 pounds and are 17 years or older, you can give blood every 56 days.
