Get Out: 5 Things To Do This Weekend

Spend this August weekend showing your support for needy families, eating ice cream or learning how teenager can start their own businesses.

Why Go?: Recycle your old paint and help the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts Troop,Pack 985 and the Environment! The first 10 cans will be $15 and additional cans are $2/each. Paint will be recycled for reuse by Williams Paint Recycling. No contractors. Original containers only.

Why Go?: Are you ready to eat all the homemade ice cream you want? Come to Miss Mary’s Ice Cream Crankin’ at the Historic Roswell Town Square and taste over 100 unique flavors of homemade ice cream like Orange Mango Sorbet, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Crunchy Brownie and Tropical Delight. There will also be ice cream eating and stacking contests, music, snow cones, popcorn, face painting and children’s games. The event will be emceed by “Sully” of 92.9 dave fm.

Recycled Animal Craft Show and Award Ceremony

Where/When: , 9135 Willeo Road, Roswell, GA 30075, Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, 1 p.m.

Why Go?: Come out and see all of the entries of in the first Recycled Animal Craft Contest. CNC’s Celebrity Box Turtle will be on hand to award the winners of the Recycled Turtle Craft Contest and to meet all the participants and CNC visitors. Why Go?: The "Teen Boss" Workshop for teenage entrepreneurs will inspire and teach teens how to start their own business and become an entrepreneur! It encourages creativity and gives solid business advice from goal-setting to asking for help, pricing and profits to customer service and marketing to licenses and taxes. Teens can even discuss saving for the future. Tommy Johns, a successful entrepreneur who turned a fun hobby into a successful business, leads the session.

Why Go?: The Internationals, formed in 2008 by Cumming natives Jody Abernathy and Mark Mundy, showcase their original country music.
