Get Out: Make a Plan for the Weekend

Whether you want to plant a garden or attend the Symphony. Its all here this weekend!

So much to do this weekend. If you enjoy music, choose between the symphony, rock, country or perhaps yourself singing in front of a crowd.  There are also some great ways to give back to the community by running in a 5K, cleaning up green space or donating blood.

Want to build the garden of your dreams? This Saturday the is hosting a hands-on how-to vegetable gardening in its Unity Garden. Just in time for spring planting, this fun and educational presentation will cover such topics as seasonal vegetable selection, proper soil preparation, seed-starting, and double-digging. Fred Conrad of the Atlanta Community Food Bank will be the guest speaker.

This Saturday night at 8 p.m. in the Johns Creek High School, join the Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra as it presents “Virtuoso Strings". This performance will include Mozart's Serenade, K. 525, "Eine Kleine Nacht Musik" (A Little Night Music), Samuel Barber's  Adagio for Strings, Op. 11 and Dvorak., plus Astor Piazzolla!

Make plans to attend the Roswell Reads literary luncheon featuring "My Name is Mary Sutter" author, Robin Oliveira, tomorrow, Mar. 5 at 11:30 a.m. at the Adult Recreation Center on Grimes Bridge Road. Discussion about the book, it's history and the research involved in its creation is sure to be lively! Tickets may be purchased at the door for $15; they include a light lunch.

Ready to start Spring by getting dirty? Join 'Keep Roswell Beautiful' for wetlands restoration, plantings, and litter removal to benefit the Big Creek Wetlands. All ages are welcome to join this fun filled day that keeps Roswell green!

Time to Unwind and Enjoy the Music

  • night Montana’s Bar and Grill, on Hwy 9 in Alpharetta, Andrew Black plays rock, blue and country music from 7 p.m.–10 p.m.
  • catch live music at on Main Street in Alpharetta as Jody Abernathy & Mark Mundy of The Internationals  mix country,  folk and southern rock.

On either Saturday or Sunday, enjoy a show with ACT1’s production of “Barbecuing Hamlet" on Academy Street in Alpharetta. This play provides fast lines and even faster exits as the lead character; Margo attempts to present Hamlet with eccentric characters and bizarre settings. ACT1 is a community theater with a focus on wholesome entertainment so take the whole family.  

The 5th Annual North Fulton Business Expo is this Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Atlanta Marriott in Alpharetta. It will have 85 exhibitors and more than 1,200 pre-registered attendees.
