Get Out: Things To Do This Weekend

This summer weekend is full of movies, puppets and charitable causes.

Where/When: , 950 Forest St, Roswell, GA 30075, June 10-11 from 10 p.m.–11 a.m. and June 10 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Why Go?: "Fairy Circus" is a showcase for turn of the century trick puppetry.  The puppets will dance, play instruments, juggle contort, transform and fly through the air with the greatest of ease, all to the best-loved music of favorite composers.

Price: $4 kids (2-12), $5 adults

Where/When: , 3150 Old Alabama Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30022, Saturday,  June 11,  7 p.m.

Why Go?: The family comedy "Gulliver's Travels" is the film selection on June 11 for Johns Creek's first 'Movies in the Park' of the summer season. The movie starts at dusk at Newtown Park at 3150 Old Alabama Road. Pre-show activities start roughly two hours earlier, at 7 p.m. and include an inflatable moonwalk and giant slide, face painting, children's activities, give-always, entertainment, food and drinks. Families are invited to bring blankets and relax. No alcohol or pets please.

Where/When: Johns Creek Welcome Center, 11030 Medlock Bridge Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30097, June 8-Aug. 14 (Closed Mondays), 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Why Go?: Golf lovers everywhere are invited to view the PGA Championship History Exhibit, "A History of the Season's Final Major," June 8-August 14, 2011, at the Johns Creek Welcome Center. The exhibit combines both golf artifacts and memorabilia that reveal the history and tradition of thePGA Championship and its past 92 champions: from Walter Hagen to Jack Nicklaus to Tiger Woods to last year's PGA Champion, Martin Kaymer.

Where/When: , 10800 Davis Dr, Alpharetta, GA 30009, Saturday,  June 11,  4 p.m.–6:30 p.m.

Why Go?: The third annual hockey benefit for cancer will be taking place Saturday. Come watch a Red vs. Blue hockey game to help support the fight to find a cure for cancer. Afterwards the arena opens for public skating!

Price: Children 10 and under are $5 and adults are $10

Where/When: , 13450 Cogburn Rd, Alpharetta, GA 30004, Sunday, June 12, 3 p.m.

Why Go?: This patriotic concert is free and everyone is invited. Light refreshments will be provided by the Alpharetta Golden Age Club after the concert.

Where/When: Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church, 4490 State Bridge Way, Alpharetta, GA 30005, Sunday,  June 12, 2011, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.

Why Go? This has been an annual event in Alpharetta for over 140 years. It is an informal network of people interested in participating in and promoting singing from the Sacred Harp and other shape note books. The singers spread "dinner on the ground" at 12 p.m. and everyone brings a covered dish to share.
