Get Out: Things To Do This Weekend

Enjoy our nation's birthday with celebrations for all ages across North Fulton and Forsyth counties.

 

Where/When: , 9135 Willeo Road, Roswell, GA 30075, Saturday, July 2, 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.

Why Go?: Join a naturalist on an outdoor journer to see what happens as the sun goes down and the night comes to life! Hike through the wetlands or woods, visit with a nocturnal animal up close and enjoy a summer campfire complete with marshmallow roasting.

Why Go?: Peter & The Wolf is performed to Sergei Prokofiev's beautiful musical story and The Frog Prince is set to the lively music of Dimitre Kabalevsky. An unusual puppet show in which the marionettes share the stage with the puppeteers.

Price: $4 Kids (2-12), $5 Adults

Why Go?: Enjoy carnival games and activities beginning at 6 p.m. There will be food for sale by Miller's Ale House & Restaurant. Performances will include ‘Big Biscuit’ at 6 p.m. and ‘Banks & Shane’ at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks start at dark.

Where/When: , 750 Hickory Flat Road, Milton, GA 30004, Friday, July 1, 6:30 p.m.

Why Go?: Enjoy listening to Nashville’s Sarah Peacock, an Atlanta native. A true troubadour, the powerhouse vocalist averages more than 200 gigs a year, honing her blend of classic rock, country and pop.

Where/When: , 1755 Old Milton Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30009 (Wills Park), Monday, July 4, 3 p.m.

Why Go?: Celebrate Independence Day with family and friends at Wills Park! Food vendors will be located throughout the park from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.  Children's activities will be on the event lawn behind Alpharetta Community Center from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. Alpharetta City Band will present a patriotic medley from 6 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. The spectacular fireworks show begins at dusk!

Where/When: , 235 Castleberry Road, Cumming, GA 30040, Sunday, July 3, 6 p.m. - 10 p.m., Monday, July 4, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Why Go? Cumming's Independence Day Celebration begins on July 3 at 6 p.m. with various vendors including food and drink, inflatable’s for kids, a live band, fireworks display along with an all age dance contest following the fireworks. Bring your blanket, set out on the lawn and enjoy the festivities. There is no admission or parking fee for the July 3 celebration! On July 4 come and enjoy the famous Steam Engine Parade beginning at 10 a.m. The parade will include steam engines, antique tractors, antique cars and many other floats decorated in the spirit of the holiday. Following the Steam Engine Parade you can take a closer look at the steam engines, tractors and cars at the fairgrounds.

Lake Lanier Islands 4th of July Celebration

Where/When: Sunset Cove, Lake Lanier Islands, 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway, Buford, Friday July 1 - Monday July 4 (fireworks at dusk).

Why Go?: It's the largest firework display in North Georgia hosted by Lake Lanier Islands. Leading up to the main attraction will be all-day live entertainment, games, and family fun. Price: $8 gate fee per car, no admission fees for beach.
