Go Hiking with Your Dog In Roswell Every Week

Walking the dog isn't a chore; at least not when the walk leads you over the scenic trails surrounding Vickery Creek in Roswell.

, a Roswell chiropractor and owner of Cameron Batchelor, founded the Dog Hikers of Georgia in December of 1993 as a club for people - and dogs - who enjoy hiking.

The non-profit group meets weekly on Sundays. There are no fees, dues, or rules for the hike; just a goal that everyone has a good time. Current and past hikers have included Jack Russels, Dobermans, Whippets, Rottweillers, Golden Retrievers, Collies, Beagles, Pekineese, Labs, Greyhounds, Portugeese Water Dogs, Australian Cattle Herders and more.

"We have had as many as 67 dogs come on our hikes at one time," Batchelor told Roswell Patch. But, "don't let this intimidate you since most of the dogs are well controlled."

The group meets every Sunday morning at Vickery Creek in Roswell across from the Batchelor Chiropractic Clinic on Atlanta Street. Meeting times vary from week to week, so check with Batchelor for time, location and directions of the next hike. Non-dog owners are also welcome. 

The club will hike at 10 a.m. this Sunday after first meeting at the clinic. But, as usual, hikers should always e-mail or call on Saturday at noon to confirm.
