What would a duck do? Kids are about to find out!

Not sure what to do with the kids this week? We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and new places to try out.

Now that the chill of winter is slowly disappearing and hints of spring are sprouting, take advantage of the nice weather coming our way this weekend by taking in a little fishing, perhaps you'll enjoy racing around a track in a quarter midget race car or do a little painting. Kid's Spring National Charity Race: Kids Racing for Kids

Where/When: Cumming Fairgrounds, 120 Castleberry Rd., Sat., March 12.

Safety Instructions 7 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
Registration 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.

Why Go: The Quarter Midget Racing is a family oriented sport for children ages 5 to 16. Teaching the life skills of safety, competition and sportsmanship. The North Georgia Quarter Midget Association provides a safe and rewarding first racing experience and provides a memorable family sporting activity. Quarter Midget racing is not a "drop off your kid" kind of sport, but an involved family activity.

Price: FREE!

Where/When: Brookside Office Park Lake, 3625 Brookside Pkwy, Alpharetta, Sat. March 12, 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Why Go: Children ages 4 to 12 are invited to participate. Pre-registration is required for this free event (CLICK HERE). Prizes will be awarded for the longest fish and the most fish caught. Bring fishing gear and bait.

Price: FREE!

Where/When: Farmhouse in the City, 1094 Green Street, Roswell/Wednesdays from 4-5:30 p.m.

Why Go: Do your children enjoy painting? Here is an opportunity for them to learn how to become the artist we know is hidden inside them. Join this class to learn more about the art of painting and have fun at the same time. Check out this link to learn more about the class structure:  Cork & Canvas .

Pricing: Classes are $20 per painter.

Where/When: Studio Movie Grill, 2880 Holcomb Bridge Road, Alpharetta/Saturdays at 11 a.m.

Why Go: This unique theater provides Family Fun Programming every weekend. This Saturday the kids will love Kidtoons: The Little Engine That Could.

Barnes & Noble Kids Storytime

Where/When: Barnes & Noble, Mansell Crossing, 7660 Northpoint Parkway/Saturday and Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

 (Mansell Crossing, 10:30 a.m.) - Saturday, kids will learn about ducks. Storytime is free, doesn't even cost a buck. 

 (Mansell Crossing, 10:30 a.m.) - Kids need to prepare for St. Patrick's Day. Barnes & Nobles celebrates this event two days early during their Tuesday storytime. They'll learn many things about this long-lived tradition and should wear their green.
