Have You Met...Tammy Tankersley?

This week, we're meeting Tammy Tankersley

1. What is your occupation and why did you choose it?
"I taught students with learning disabilities in Kentucky for 14 years before my family moved to Roswell in June 2010. I took a 'Professional Careers' class as a senior in high school and I shadowed a teacher who taught in a special school for children with needs. I decided then that I wanted to earn my degree in special education. I also have my Master's Degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education and earned my National Board Certification as an Exceptional Needs Specialist in 2004. Needless to say, I adore these children. I became very attached to the students and their families because I worked with some of them for a few consecutive years. I currently enjoy being a stay at home for the second year in a row. I homeschool my youngest son for preschool and my other son attends public school."

2. What do you like most about the Roswell area?
"I enjoy Roswell for the vast number of amenities that it has to offer for me and my family. I love to take my children to the parks, spraygrounds, pool and all of the other nice restaurants and kid-oriented businesses. We didn't have so many choices where we previously lived due to a smaller population. We've met some really nice families from meetup and our neighbors are all nice. We also like the area because we feel that the Roswell police force really monitor the city well and we feel safe because of their hard work."

3. What is your life motto?
"My Memaw would say, 'Pull up your boot straps.' I love that because no matter what life hands you, you do your best to make the most out of what you can. I am so blessed to have a family who is courageous."
