Kids Corner: Party Chic

Cupcakes are all the rage these days, so it takes a lot of work to make them special. Luckily,  by KellyKakes on Canton Street in Old Roswell have turned cupcakes - and partying - into an art form.

Thursday through Sunday, Party Chic is a restaurant serving a full menu at lunch, tapas at dinner, drinks and a variety of desserts. Sitting on the balcony at night and people-watching while eating a giant cupcake and enjoying a glass of red wine is the adult version of heaven.

But before you lose yourself in visions of date nights and get togethers with your friends, as it turns out, that they also cater to children.

Each year on my daughter's birthday, we go to Party Chic and sit on the balcony. She chooses a cupcake and they decorate it with bows, icing and a giant candle. Not only do we both have a wonderful time making memories, but the porch swing also makes a great backdrop for pictures.

The cupcakes are delicious and over-sized in a variety of flavors with customizable icings and toppings. My personal favorite is red velvet with white chocolate icing, while my daughter prefers chocolate with vanilla buttercream and sprinkles.

If you're looking for a party venue, they can do that, too.

Their website details several party packages from toddlers, all the way up to high schoolers and the packages include food, drinks, invitations, decorations, balloons, cupcake decorating, crafts, paper goods and costumes for the little ones - all in a pretty room painted with flowers. They also do baby showers.

Whether you want to purchase an entire package or just take over a few tables, be sure to order plenty of cupcakes; because, trust me when I say everyone will want seconds.
