Kids Corner: Roswell's Youth Day

Parades, ponies and moonwalks!

They say that Mother's Day is only one day a year and every other day belongs to kids. But in Roswell, there's actually a day just to celebrate children. It's called Youth Day, and it's this Saturday, Oct. 1.

Roswell's 61st annual You Day kicks off this Saturday morning with the Roswell Youth Day Parade, which begins at 10 a.m. at on Mimosa and finishes at Roswell Area Park. The parade includes floats by local organizations, wacky cars, fire trucks, motorcycles, marching bands, Roswell Mayor Jere Wood on horseback and tons and tons of candy.

After the parade, the party continues at the football field, where free lunch is served to kids 15 and under. Other free activities include pony rides, moonwalks, climbing walls and DJ'd music.

We always like to end our Youth Day with a trip to the big playground there to let off some steam.
