Loving German Shepherd Mix Needs Home

Bogart is 50 pounds of grace and affection.

This is Bogart, a male white German Shepherd-mix dog, who weighs approximately 50 pounds and is a little over a year old.

Bogart was found one Sunday afternoon in a rural shelter by one of the co-founders of Angels Among Us Pet Rescue. She was told he only had a few hours to live before the time scheduled to put thim down. She took him outside, to give him one more opportunity to feel the sun on his face, to romp and play and be free for a little while before his time would come to cross the rainbow bridge.

Instead of running and playing, or even begging for the treats in her pocket, this beautiful white dog chose to tenderly place his face in her hands, resting there while he soaked up the touch of a human who had taken some time to spend with him, and just gracefully rested while she stroked his head and face, never moving until he had to - begging for more loving, not treats (see photo).

Even though Angels is very full with so many needing homes, she couldn't leave him behind. She knew she had to make a way for Bogart to live and to get that second chance at life.

Bogart has proven in his foster home that he's just as loving as he was that fateful day when Angels met him in the shelter. He loves to cuddle and kiss your face and thinks the very best place to be is in your lap, if you'll let him.

He a true snuggle bug and full of pure love and devotion. He is great with kids and other dogs but is wary of strangers. Animal Control picked him up as a stray but he was obviously someone's pet at some point.

Bogart loves to play fetch and due to being young, will continue to need an owner who will work with him on manners and commands. He's a very smart boy and learns quickly.

He loves all his new toys so toys and treats are wonderful things to Bogart. He will make an excellent companion dog for any owner and any family. This boy is vetted, neutered, up-to-date on all shots, microchipped, is potty-trained and so far with his foster family, hasn't needed to be crated.

The ideal home for Bogart would be a large, secure, fenced-in yard, kids to play with, a nice warm bed, lots of treats, toys and bones, and a family who would open their hearts and arms to him and love him forever. This boy has lots of personality and a ton of kisses to give.
