New Boy Scout Troop in Roswell Steps up Service

Troop 226 provides additional Boy Scout opportunity for Scouts east of Ga. 400.

New Boy Scout Troop 226 was recently created to serve boys looking for a high adventure experience in the Roswell area, especially those east of Ga. 400.

The troop, which operates out of in Roswell, meets on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. Bridge to Grace is located 2.5 miles east of Ga. 400 on Holcomb Bridge Road, between Fouts Road and Horseshoe Bend.

“I have three sons involved in scouting,” said Damon Edmondson, scoutmaster and founder of Troop 226. “After volunteering at Cub Scout Pack 629 for eight years, including being Cub Master for 3 and interacting with families at one of our Roswell BSA Twilight Camp locations during that time, we realized there was a demand for a Troop that was closer to home, but still offered a high adventure experience. We are very excited about our new Troop and what it can offer for scouts.”

Troop 226 recently worked with the Roswell Rotary Club to plant more than 25 trees in support of the "Trees across Roswell" partnership on Arbor Day. The trees, planted along a new bike trail on Holcomb Bridge Road, will help control erosion and promote beautification of our community.

“I really appreciated that we planted tree species native to Georgia, like dogwoods, redbud and white oak,” said Jeb Edmondson, one of the first members of the new Troop. “It feels good to do something which will help our community.”
