Newtown Anniversary Observed in Roswell

Guests are asked to bring a bell for a communal ringing to honor the victims of the Connecticut school shootings.

On Saturday, the Unitarian Universalist Metro Atlanta North Congregation (UUMAN) will hold an observation of the first anniversary of the Newton (Conn.) school shootings, in conjunction with the Georgia Chapter of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

The commemoration begins at 9:30 a.m., which marks the time right before the shootings began at the Sandy Hook Elementary School and that took the lives of 20 students and six teachers and staff.

The Roswell event is one of 50 in more than 35 states that Moms Demand Action chapters throughout the nation will be observing Saturday. These events are co-sponsored by Mayors Against Illegal Guns.
